Privacy Policy & Data Security

At Easy Morse Code Translator, we believe that private communication should remain private. Our entire telegraph suite is engineered with an Offline-First Client-Side Architecture—meaning your messages, audio conversions, and practice sessions never leave your web browser.

Effective Date: July 30, 2026 ITU-R M.1677-1 Compliant Zero Cloud Telemetry
🔒

Zero Server Transmission

100% of text-to-Morse translation, audio waveform synthesis (sine, square, triangle, sawtooth), visual flashing, and tattoo rendering execute locally inside your device's RAM.

💾

Local Storage Only

Your preferred WPM speed, Farnsworth spacing, audio pitch (Hz), volume, and visual theme settings are stored exclusively in your browser's local storage.

🎓

Safe for Classrooms

No account registration, login credentials, cookies, or personal identifiers are required. Fully compliant with COPPA and FERPA student privacy standards.

1. Client-Side Offline-First Architecture

Unlike traditional web tools that transmit user text to backend servers for processing, Easy Morse Code Translator operates entirely within your browser environment using JavaScript and the Web Audio API.

  • Text & Morse Translation: All encoding and decoding between ASCII/Unicode text and International Morse Code dots (.) and dashes (-) happen in your browser memory.
  • Audio Synthesis & WAV Generation: When you generate or download a Morse code audio file, the audio buffer is constructed locally using the Web Audio API. No audio files are ever uploaded or downloaded from external servers.
  • Microphone & Audio Decoder: Our Live Audio Morse Decoder asks for optional microphone access solely to perform local frequency domain analysis (FFT) in real time. Microphone audio streams are never recorded, cached, or sent to any remote endpoint.

2. Browser Local Storage & Preferences

We use browser standard localStorage to improve your user experience across visits without tracking your identity. Specifically, we store:

Telegraph Timing Settings WPM (5–40 WPM), Farnsworth spacing speed, and word gap multipliers.
Audio Oscillator Preferences Frequency tone pitch (300–1200 Hz), waveform shape (sine/square/triangle), and volume level.
Practice & Game Scores Your high scores and training streak counters in the Morse Listening Game.
UI & Visual Customization Selected flash colors, high-contrast visual preferences, and last-used tool tabs.

You can clear all saved preferences at any time by clearing your browser's local site storage or cache.

3. Information We Do Not Collect

We maintain a strict principle of data minimization. When you use Easy Morse Code Translator, we do not collect, harvest, or store:

  • Any text, messages, names, or emergency SOS alerts typed into our input fields.
  • Any generated Morse code audio files, image translations, or tattoo stencil exports.
  • Personal identification details such as names, physical addresses, phone numbers, or account profiles.
  • Advertising tracking profiles or cross-site behavioral cookies.

4. Infrastructure & Standard Server Logs

Our website is hosted on secure cloud infrastructure. Like all web servers on the internet, our hosting provider automatically generates ephemeral, non-identifying server access logs (such as IP addresses, browser user-agent strings, and request timestamps) strictly for security monitoring, DDoS mitigation, and reliability diagnostics. These logs are never linked to any personal data or translated messages.

5. Children's Educational Privacy (COPPA / FERPA)

Easy Morse Code Translator is widely used by amateur radio instructors, STEM teachers, scout leaders, and students worldwide. Because our application does not require registration, does not collect personal data, and runs 100% locally on the user's device, it is fully compliant with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and appropriate for educational use in K-12 classrooms.

6. Policy Updates & Contact Information

We may occasionally update this Privacy Policy to reflect new offline tools, ITU-R standard enhancements, or regulatory updates. Any changes will be posted directly on this page with an updated effective date.

Frequently Asked Privacy Questions

Does the audio translator upload my voice recording?

No. When you use the Live Audio Morse Decoder, your microphone stream is analyzed locally by the browser's Web Audio API using a Fast Fourier Transform (FFT). No audio data is ever transmitted or recorded.

Can I use Easy Morse Code Translator without internet?

Yes! Because our translation engine and audio synthesizers are built into the web application, once the page is loaded, you can disconnect your internet and continue translating and practicing Morse code seamlessly.
